It’s been snowing for the last couple of days. In London. As much as I enjoy the snow, the excitement it brings out in even the grumpiest people, I’m not happy about how it will curb my riding time this weekend.
Temperatures are set to continue to be sub zero, and it’s most likely the roads will freeze over. 23mm bicycle tyres and ice don’t make for a good combination. So I’ve two options; dust down the cyclo-cross bike and go off-road, or fix the road bike into the turbo trainer. Hmm…
Taming the Patenberg. A deliciously steep but relatively smooth cobbled climb. Smoothest way up is the storm gutter along the sides, but the classic way is straight up the middle
There’s something special, magical, about riding on cobbles.
This is me riding the Oude Kwaremont early last year
